Set up IPTV Quebec TV on a MAG box

MAG boxes do not work like app-based devices. Instead of a username and password, the box is tied to its own MAC address, so we need that from you before anything will load.

Send us your MAC address

It is printed on the label underneath the box, and shown in System Settings as well. It looks like 00:1A:79:XX:XX:XX. Nothing works until it is registered, so start there.

Open the portal settings

  1. 1.Once the box has finished starting up, open Settings and press SETUP or SET on the remote.
  2. 2.Go to System Settings, then Servers, then Portals.

Enter the portal address

  1. 1.In Portal 1 Name, put any name you like.
  2. 2.In Portal 1 URL, paste the portal address you received with your order.
  3. 3.Press OK to save.

Set the time server and restart

  1. 1.Still in System Settings, open the time or NTP section.
  2. 2.Enter us.pool.ntp.org, which is the closest server for Quebec.
  3. 3.Exit settings twice, then choose Restart Portal.
Worth knowing. Skipping the time server is by far the most common reason a MAG box shows an empty guide. The box needs the right time to match programmes to channels.

MAG boxes activate by MAC address, which is why it matters so much. Formuler boxes work the same way through MYTV Online, and BuzzTV boxes use an almost identical portal setting. Check which channels are included before buying hardware.
